SETTING A RECORD

The PWD Minister Mr. Paneerselvam announced about the retail sale of a product which has broken a 22 year old record in our state.

He says that after the govt took over the sales, the revenue collection stood at Rs. 4,820 crores, thats a sale of 22 lakh cases.

He also says that there has been no population explosion in between which implies that the product is popularised a lot. He also alleges that the reason for the less collection during the past years when it was under private control is that the money was going in other ways during the last 20 years.

Guess what was he talking about ????
"TASMAC LIQUOR"

"kudi,
kudipavanin kudalai kedukkum,
avan kudumbathai kedukkum,
arasin kajanavai nirrapum."

WHAT AN IRONY??
SIRIPADHA ? AZHUVADHA?

I support the government, because our Kudi magangal are not going to change, they ll drink to death. But if this wine shop is in the hands of private then the money will go to Goondas and rowdies, but now it comes to govt. right? Instead of 2 disadvantages the govt. has made it into one, brilliant idea. Soon TASMAC will compete MNCs in revenue :)

From my childhood I used to wonder, why the Government encourages stuff that are not good for health. At the same time, if our people understand the consequence of it, then they can make even the Government to suffer a huge loss. Nothing to say......

this is jus disgusting. i have never seen a minister say that the literacy rate has reached a new high or the crime rate has reduced to a new record. the minister even goes on to explain that the population increase has nothing to do with this. People who r in the upper middle class and upper class really don't go to the TASMAC shops. They have their 3 star and 5 star hotel pubs. this means that the people who earn a very minimum wage r drinking a lot and it has increased.

It is business and there is no harm in giving the statistics. Even if the government is not running wine shops it will be run by private owners. Most of the stocks are duplicate in that as the private owners wanted to make more profits and they r not paying tax. Its a revenue loss for the government. So i think that it is better that the government took it and making profits.
Business is Business.
Consuming alcohol is good or bad is a different issue. No government can fully abolish this alcohol, if they do then "Kalla sarayam is always there" which can drink the life of many.

@ ram,
u are right, the money goes to the govt instead of goondas and rowdies, but who is the govt? are they honest? do u know that after the govt took over the tasmac, the sales has increased showing that the no of kudimagans is increased? is not that a bad sign? and also the "sarukku" going to the tasmac shops is from the same company? athu yaarodathu? athu oru arinja ragasiyam. kadisila makkaloda vazhkaiya kedukaranga.

@balaji,
namma makkal enikku thirunthi, enikku they are going to incur loss to the govt, the big hands behind this wont allow the public to wake up that soon. anyway lets hope for better future

hey veda and ram.u said that its atleast good that the liquor business has been taken over by the govt and that the money is not going to the gundas and rowdies.but who are these gundas and rowdies???all of them are on the payroll of different politicians.earlier the politicians used to do this dicreetly using various "front" companies.now they got the legitimacy.is that good???certainly not.

btw did u see on headlines today.they were showing a meeting addressed by karunanithi.

This was he said"The CM has been complaining about her auditor and doctor's houses being raided.But did she say that a distillery was also being raided.Who's distillery is this???It belongs to sasikala.And it's from distilleries like these that TASMAC gets it liquor"

Now I cannot vouch for that veracity of these statements.But I am pretty sure that such distilleries exist and may be owned by different politicians.This will continue to be the case even if DMK comes to power

Govt or private.Ultimately it's these netas who will prosper,but at the cost of the lives and families of gullible ordinary citizens

Joke of the year.. Idhuley perumaippada enna irukku? Out of the 4,820 crores, atleast 1,000 crores would have come from those below basic living conditions.. Shame..

@veda&paurna
Agreed your point but unless and until the individual realises himself no rule can stop him from drinking.
