where is humanity??

A tamil weekly published some shocking pictures on its cover. the pictures depicted the last dying minutes of an infant that was jus nine days old.
The person who took these pictures in his mobile had gone to a private hospital to visit a patient. he overheard some nurses speaking abt a child, and his doubt increased when he heard a child's cry from a near by room and he started investigating it when no one answered him properly.
Later, he found out that this child developed some complications in his mother's womb. this was found out in the eighth month. the doctors warned the parents that either the child would die inside or even if the mother delivers the baby it wont last long.
the parents pray the child to be born dead. but the child was born . here is where its horrible fate starts. since the baby had many complications, they decided to let the baby die, so they shut it a lonely room in the hospital without mother's milk or water.(with the support of the hospital of course)
when the person who brought this news out, had visited the hospital he bribed a servant there and entered into the room to find whether thats true and thats where he took photos of the dying child, beside the fact that he got shocked at the very sight of the baby.
he could not come out of the shock till the next day and when he approached the magazine a day later, the team went to the hospital to check it out and they found out that the child died that morning and the body cremated and the reason they found out in the medical certificate is that the child developed malaria and so died.
what a cruel thing to do a child? do we have the right to take a life?that too in
way this much cruel?if really the parents could not take care of such a child, they could have left it to any social organisations who would have took care and the child would have met death in a more peaceful way. how could doctors support such a thing ? now , mercy killing is something different, they are done in a
more peaceful way(i am not supporting it.)

where are we going? where is humanity ? are we going back to stone ages, where humans behaved like animals?

one thing is for sure, if the baby was sure to die, then it shud deserve a better death, should die in comfort.

euthenasia is banned in india, so what would we mean by comfort in death? if we give life support wont be prolonging the babys pain by allowing it ot live and suffer? if done in the way done here, we are giving it a painful death, its pretty much a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea i guess.

definitely the way the baby was killed cannot be accpeted.. probably they doctors could have done it in a painless way..

well about mercy killing.. I think it al depends on the extent of damage... U must see the movie "Million dollar baby". Antha mari case la I feel its better to die than live.

Finally ..antha fotos aah pota magazine.. totally useless. if they they are really concerned..why not file a PIL.. or they have left it to others.. enna magazine athu??

very shocking indeed. A baby that could survive 9 days without any care could have surely survived longer. Enna manushangalo..

definitely 'shocking!' but in India 'not surprising'

Euthenasia is illegal in India, rightly so. If the hospital and the parents decided to let the child die after it was born, then they need to be tried by LAW. I feel even Capital Punishment is wrong.

Quite shocking. When will our people change?

வேதா said...

@ashok,
the incident is shocking indeed, but we cannot say that it happens in india alone.
@rajesh,
even if euthanasia is legalised, this is not the way to apply it.
@mr.balaji,
will they ever change? their own conscience will kill them for the rest of their lives.

really shocking. and more irony is that that magazine used it for its circulation..

We have seen n number of pple who had achieved in various areas though they were phsically challenged(i hate to refer them as handicapped)..

Y those parents have no guts to face the problem ..?

Hhhhhhmmm, pple mind has to change..

The parents cannot be called human beings, they are something else and the doctors who aided them are far worse - looks like the hypocrates oath is a farce for doctors.

Gosh..Remembered a dialoge in Bond movie uttered by a media baron "There is no news....like bad news.."

Romba kastama pochu veda unga blog padichittu. we talk abt technology, development etc etc. but still we find such people. the child's parents, if they had thought that the child was not worth living, they could have handed to child to some social organization. some orphanage. they could have asked for help by going public. instead their decision is really shocking.

Huh... I couldn't assimilate what i have just read. How could the parents let go the child even if the doctors have advised to do so? The poor kid doesn't deserve this kind of a treatment. May his/her soul rest in peace.

@ramesh and ricky,
i also was very upset when i read abt this.

Veda, really pathetic. Though the topic about whether or not to put a baby with critical illness to sleep is debatable, I certainly cannot accept the way it was put to rest. Yes, the same question which ponders is how could even the parents think of such a way (there are many many less torturous ways right? - even if they wanted to!). Good bless them!

where is humanity?
Its there in all the composed and written papers.

@usha,
me too :(
@ravi
the topic of euthanasia is something diff and ofcourse debatable and as u said the way in which the baby is literally murdered is horrible.
@logic,
where is humanity, i am still searching!!

no comments on this post but i dont get emotional for this act. But what ever leaving to death in few mints is as good as abortion- i am highly against abortion as if some dont need a child let them go for precaution.l

@ks,
well my point is also that no one has the right to take life.
